Lawyer Motorsports Wins 2010 NHRA Division 3 Jeg's Super Quick Championship!

With a lot of luck and help from friends, family, and partner Charlie Evans, Lawyer Motorsports took over the points lead in the final event of the year at the Fall Classic National Open in Indianapolis on October 10th. Click here to read all about the race. Kristina will be officially crowned as champion on January 8, 2011 at the NHRA Division 3 banquet in Indianapolis.

The Jeg's Super Quick series consists of 9 races at 9 different racetracks throughout the Midwest. Racers earn points for each round won and use their 6 highest scoring events to calculate their season-long points standing. With a first round loss at Gateway International Raceway, Kil-Kare Dragway, and Chandler Motorsports Park, a second round loss at Crossroads Dragway and O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, a quarter-final loss at Coles County Dragway and Pacemakers Dragway Park, a runner-up at Beech Bend Raceway Park, and a win at Bunker Hill Dragstrip, Lawyer Motorsports earned 355 points in 2010. This put Kristina a mere 10 points in front of James Monroe, 11 points in front of Chris Sullivan, and 22 points in front of Bobby Small. To see the entire 2010 points standings, click here.

First round of the actual Jeg's race was Sunday morning without any time trials. Going into the race we had to go one more round than James Monroe to pass him in points. It so happened that Monroe ran his first round opponent just two pair in front of us. This meant that I was looking down the track, waiting to run, when they ran. When Monroe's opponent's win light came on I saw the team celebrate on the starting line, and I knew that if we won this round we would take the points lead. Luckily, we did.

After losing second round (I was dead late on the tree and knew it, I guess my nerves got the better of me) we had to wait until the semi-finals to see how the points chase would end. We finished in 1st place, just 10 points ahead of James Monroe, 11 points ahead of Chris Sullivan, and 22 points ahead of Bobby Small. Read all about it here:

Just as we launched from the starting line first round it began to rain and the race was postponed until Sunday morning. We lost 3rd round on Sunday.

Ford friends Bobby Small and Scott Carman both had unfortunate weekends. Bobby noticed that his chassis was broken Saturday morning and therefore he could not compete. Scott broke a timing belt during qualifying and couldn't run in eliminations.

In a late night final round (because of a rain delay at the beginning of the day) we beat James Monroe to earn our second Wally! Many thanks to everyone who was there for all of the encouragement and support; we felt truly loved. Congratulations to our good friends Robbie Freels for his runner-up in Super Pro and Bobby Small for qualifying number 1! You can read the NHRA article on the race here: http://www.nhradiv3.com/apcm/templates/divnews.asp?articleid=42472&zoneid=18

I lifted first round because I didn't notice that the other person had a red light. I used the nitrous override near the finish line third round, in the semis, and in the final.
